About DropWave
The zero-installation, zero-server-storage peer-to-peer file and media transfer tool for every device.
🌐 The DropWave Vision
Moving a photo, 4K video, PDF, or folder between a phone and a computer shouldn't require sending files to yourself over WhatsApp, uploading to Google Drive or iCloud, or installing proprietary vendor apps. Apple's AirDrop is fast, but it is locked to Apple hardware.
DropWave was built to bring universal, frictionless sharing to every platform. Whether you are on an iPhone, Android phone, Windows PC, Mac, Linux workstation, or Chromebook, DropWave works directly in your web browser with zero setup, zero app downloads, and zero logins.
🚀 Key Features
Files stream directly peer-to-peer through encrypted WebRTC DataChannels. Our servers never touch or store your files.
No automatic downscaling or video compression. Every byte and EXIF metadata tag is preserved 100% losslessly.
Queue dozens of files or entire folders at once. Recipients can download individual files or export the whole batch as a single ZIP.
Devices on the same Wi-Fi network discover each other automatically on the animated radar screen without manual pairing.
Cross-network or isolated router? Simply scan the on-screen QR code with your mobile camera to join the same secure transfer room.
Easily beam text snippets, Wi-Fi passwords, phone numbers, and URLs directly to neighboring devices with 1-click clipboard copy.
⚙️ How DropWave Works
Open in Browser
Open dropwave.app on any two or more devices on the same Wi-Fi network. Each device appears automatically on the animated radar with a friendly animal codename.
WebRTC Peer Handshake
When you initiate a transfer, a lightweight signaling WebSocket exchanges cryptographic connection tokens (SDP offer/answer and ICE candidates) to negotiate a direct point-to-point data tunnel.
Direct P2P Streaming
Files are sliced into binary memory blocks (ArrayBuffers) and piped directly across the local network at maximum Wi-Fi bandwidth with reactive backpressure control.
